Fashion Week Recap: New York, Paris, Milan, & London--

The fashion industry's shows went full throttle for Fall 2009. "Investment dressing" brought unique statement pieces, displaying escapism and inventiveness. Little black dresses, 1950s pencil skirts, high-waisted pants and tailored blouses proved classic's back. New York, Paris and Milan's design sensibility shone through, while London's freak flag flew high. PPQ's seventies rock chicks, and House of Holland's kooky collection infused fun. All hail to the sexy, party girl found in Pucci's shocking, pink mini-dresses, Hussein Chalayan's short little numbers, and Preen's racy peek-a-boo dresses. Hop the pond, on my end of the runway, the party still goes on--

Off-the-wall looks, London?

Designers may have tamed down a bit, however, held back no bars. The ever so kooky looks reigned supreme, but who ever said grown-up had to mean boring anyway? Modern and minimal looks ruled, with graphic transparency being a major trend. In first place rolled around Graeme Black’s luxurious collection, full of rich details. Twenty8Twelve gave us their share of mix-and-match separates. Jaeger London’s palette of black and neutral shades was sure not to disappoint. Marios Schwab played with volume and texture, and we mustn’t forget Issa’s color-drenched collection, with an Eighties disco vibe.
NY Fashion Week Fall 2009 Review

Fashion week certainly didn't disappoint. The economic meltdown at current was not a concern, as the designers collections flourished. Geometric designs, cold-weather pileups, see-through sheers, animal prints galore, embellishments that shined, brushstroke prints, dresses that spoke volumes, masculinity, eighties inspired neon's and metallic’s prevailed. Victoria Beckham gave us her take on timeless classics, with sultry evening gowns. Rag & Bone demonstrated their take on boyfriend blazers, while Frank Tell got flirty with his ruffled blouses and party dresses. Preen says peek-a-boo for Fall with racy dresses…and last but not least, DKNY's structured pieces certainly had a modern girl in mind.
